僕の好きなミュージシャンの１つでもあるが、今日、兄からライブのセットリストを貰って気がついた。解る人には解るだろうが、175Rのライブといえばオーラスはデビュー曲「ハッピーライフ」という定石があった。しかし、10月17日に武道館で行われたライブのセットリストは大分違ったものだった。「ハッピーライフ」が初っ端に、代わりに「空に唄えば」がオーラスに来ているのだ。これについてちょっと思ったことがあったので書いてみた。（結構長いです）
ロックバンドは何故か、大幅に変わる時期というものがある。175Rにとっては日本武道館でのライブというのがその変化点なのだろう。うーと、例えばＸで言えばアルバム「Jealousy」を最後にBassのTAIJIが抜けたことに当たるかな。その後は彼らのやり方を通すか、POPに成り下がるか、はたまたマニアック志向でロックスターの舞台を降りるかのどれかなんですけど（あたりまえだ）、圧倒的にPOP化が目立つね。それゆえロックミュージシャンの話になると「初めの頃の方がよかったな〜」なんてコメントがしょっちゅう飛び交う。確かにロックミュージシャンは自分らのやり方でメジャーを目指すのだが、プロの世界というのはそうはどうもいかないらしい。ロックじゃないけど、浜崎あゆみも途中から歌い方を変えたが、レコード会社の意向で元には戻せなくなったらしい。
しかし、それでも本人らのやり方を通せてるバンドもいくつもあるので、一概には言えないのですが。また路線変更が大きくプラスになっているバンドもある。黒夢なんかがそう。しかしいずれにせよ、最初のスタイルを図太く通して欲しいと思うのだ。それには「奇をてらった方法」でのデビューは避けたほうがいいね。正統派で通すというのは難しいけど、その方がバンドも長続きすると思うし、ファンも離れたりはしないでしょう。BLUE HEARTSはthe HIGH-LOWSになってもスタイル変えてないでしょ？こーゆーバンドは凄くいいと思うのよ。本人らもやりたいようにやってるんだからね。ま、175Rに関していえばインディーズから見てサウンドが深くなって、どんどん良くなってると思うから、いいんだけどね。例は出したくないが、大幅にスタイルが変わってファンが離れていっちゃったバンドをいくつか知ってるからね。でも奇をてらったスタイルでやり通してるPsycho le Cemuは凄いよな。あそこまで奇をてらうと他の追随を許さないんだろうかね。
でもだ。思い起こせば僕はGLAYの幕張20万人ライブに参加したのだが、GLAYもまた「I'm in Love」というオーラスの必殺技がある。（今は知らないが）その時も「I'm in Love」で終わりかと思ったら「これで終わると思っただろー！？」って、違う曲やりだしたのを覚えてる。その時、「すげぇ、GLAYも変わっていくんだな！」って嬉しかったのは事実だし、そうやってオーディエンスを驚かせるのもリピーターを増やす為のミュージシャンのサービス（あえて戦略とはいわない）なんだろう。変わっていくこと、変わらないこと、どっちがいいのだろうなんて、簡単には言えないさね。
